Not Your Average Guitar Lessons

Whether you’ve never picked up a guitar or you’ve been stuck on the same four chords for years, our Gainesville guitar lessons are built around one simple idea: you learn faster when you’ve got something to play for.

Our instructors tailor every lesson to your level, your learning style, and the music you actually want to play. Then we give you something most music schools can’t: a band to play with and a real stage to play on. That’s what turns “I should practice” into “I can’t wait to practice.”

How It Works: Lessons → Band → Stage

1. Lessons

Meet one-on-one with your guitar instructor for 30 minutes every week. You’ll build technique, chords, rhythm, and music theory at your own pace, using songs you love.

2. Band

Ready to play with others? Students in our VIP Performance Program join a band and rehearse 60–90 minutes each week, led by our band manager. Together you’ll learn a set list of classic, current, and original songs.

3. Stage

About every 12 weeks, our bands take the stage at a real rock-and-roll venue or festival-style show. A real, reachable goal on the calendar is the best practice motivator we’ve ever found.

What you’ll learn in guitar lessons at let there be rock school

• Solid fundamentals: posture, picking, fretting, and clean chord changes

• Open chords, power chords, and barre chords, plus strumming and rhythm patterns

• Riffs, scales, and lead guitar, from your first solo to improvising

• Reading tab and chord charts, and the music theory that ties it all together

• The songs you actually want to play, plus songwriting and original music

• How to play in a band: keeping time, locking in with a drummer, and performing with confidence

Guitar Lessons for Every Age and Every Level

Kids

Our youngest guitarists start as early as age 5. Lessons are fun, encouraging, and built around real songs, so kids stay excited and build confidence along with their skills.

Teens

For teens, the guitar is just the beginning. They join a band, make friends who love music as much as they do, and play shows at real venues. Between lessons, they can hang out in our lounge, start a room jam, or get homework done.

Adults

Always wanted to play? Picked it up years ago and want back in? It’s never too late. Our students range from 6 to 70, and adults of every level take private guitar lessons with us. We’re also forming adult bands, so you can finally play with other musicians on your schedule.

Let There Be Rock School is a safe, welcoming place to belong. Students can hang out in the lounge, play games, jam with friends, or use our free Wi-Fi to finish homework before or after their lesson. For many of our students, it’s the place where they found their people.

Guitar Lessons FAQ

Our 1-on-1 Lesson Program is $160 per month for a weekly 30-minute private guitar lesson. Our VIP Performance Program is $220 per month and adds a weekly 60–90 minute band rehearsal plus a live show every 12 weeks. Families with more than one student get a 10% sibling discount.

We teach students from age 5 through adult. Every child develops differently, so a free trial lesson is the best way to see whether your young player is ready for guitar. Our instructor will meet your child where they are and help you decide on next steps.
Not at all. Many of our guitar students walk in having never played a note. We also teach intermediate and advanced players who want to sharpen their skills, learn theory, or finally play in a band. Every lesson is tailored to your level and goals.
You don’t need an instrument or any commitment to take a free trial lesson. Once you enroll, you’ll want a guitar at home so you can practice between lessons. Not sure what to buy? Ask your instructor at your trial lesson and we’ll point you in the right direction.
Both. Whether you want to strum songs on an acoustic or crank up an electric, your instructor will build your lessons around the guitar and the music you’re most excited to play.
